My role at Build Club will be spearheading our community and AI growth engineering.</p><p>My promise to you: build club wrapped - every week, capturing the latest updates in AI relevant to you and bringing the best of Build Club community to you.</p><div><hr></div><h2>Fun Fact of the week</h2><p>Here’s the number I keep coming back to. Only 7% of companies have scaled AI across the business. Everyone else is still finding their feet, poking at pilots, running the one demo that wowed a VP back in March and hasn’t shipped since. The tools got good this year, properly good, so the hard part isn’t the tech anymore. It’s getting real people to use it.</p><p>That gap is the whole opportunity. Picture a town that just got wired for electricity and only 7 houses have flipped the lights on. The wiring is the job. (The analogy breaks because a bad workflow won’t burn the house down, but you get it.)</p><p>So, my one ask this week is this; Pick a single workflow, automation or prompt you have waiting in the wings and ship it. For a real user. Not a demo. Something they open on Monday and keep using. Put working product in front of a real person and you’re exactly who this community backs.</p><div><hr></div><h2>This week in AI</h2><p><strong>Anthropic ships Claude Sonnet 5</strong> - Near-Opus performance at $2 per million input tokens, intro pricing through 31 Aug, then $3. It’s built to run agents cheap, and it’s now the default on Free and Pro.</p><p><em>My take: the “you need the expensive model for serious work” excuse just died. Re-run your agent stack on Sonnet 5 before you renew anything pricier.</em> <a href="https://www.anthropic.com/news/claude-sonnet-5">Read more</a></p><p><strong>Chinese open-weight models now run ~61% of OpenRouter traffic</strong> - A year ago it was under 2%. DeepSeek on its own moves more tokens than Google, Anthropic, or OpenAI. GLM-5.2 and Kimi K2.6 are beating GPT-5.4 and Claude Opus 4.6 on coding benchmarks.</p><p><em>My take: for APAC builders this is the cost story of the year. Coding models that are almost frontier, and you can self-host them or run them for cents. GitHub added flex credits and a Max tier but won’t roll the meter back.</p><p><em>My take: the flat $20-a-month all-you-can-eat era is ending, and Cursor and Windsurf are next. Does your product’s margin assume cheap inference forever?
